TOWN ADMINISTRATOR REPORT
We had the first meeting of the NHGFOA (New Hampshire Government Finance Officers Association) Legislative Committee last Friday, Jan. 6th. We discussed budgeting state aid and upcoming legislation and will be tracking bills which will affect towns and cities.. The NHMA now provides members access to FastDemocracy, an online bill tracking platform, for efficient, real-time updates to legislative activity of interest to members, in addition to the weekly Legislative Bulletin. Members do not need to create a FastDemocracy account to access this information, but they are able to create an account if they wish. If you would like a NHMA account and don't have one, please let us know.
There is another bill, not yet granted an official bill number yet, that will effect default budgets, we are watching for full bill text.
We have been cautioned against using the most recent December 2022 distribution amounts as a budget amount due on revenue to the unfolding economic narrative and inflationary environment we are currently experiencing and the fact that the state saw record surplus last fiscal year which may not be an accurate indicator of future distributions until we have more historical data to consider under the new formula.
I am in Concord tomorrow, but available by cell. I am currently working on the compensation study.
